Overview

Welcome to the Central Library which is one of the central support services of College of Engineering Thiruvananthapuram. The mission of the Central Library is to provide information services and access to bibliographic and full text digital and printed resources to support the scholarly and informational needs of the Institute Community.

The Library is equipped with modern facilities and resources (print and electronic) in the forms of books, e-journals, Periodicals, Newspapers etc.

Library Collection (print and e-resources): The Library is having a collection of more than 104500 documents, and providing access to over 13200+ online journals. 

Explore our state-of-the-art library, equipped with vast array of print and digital resources, including books, e-books, periodicals, and newspapers. Our library is fully automated with the library software Book Magic, ensuring easy navigation and access to knowledge

Reader Services

  • General Opening Hours of the Section:

9.00 AM to 9.00 PM from Monday to Friday and 9.00 AM to 4.00 PM on Saturdays.

  • Book Issue & Return Hours:
    • 9.15 AM to 5.00 PM for regular students and 5.00 PM to 8.45 PM for working professionals.
    • Late fines @ Re. 1/Day will be charged.
    • Books from reference section may be taken outside of the section area for reading and photocopying purpose only for one day and for that students have to submit their physical form of ID cards.
  • The library has a seating capacity of 168 to accommodate both students and faculty.

Membership

      All the students, faculty members and employees of the Institute can register themselves for the membership of the Library using their physical form of College ID card. Their entitlements, in terms of the number of books that can be borrowed by them, are as follows:

Library Membership

All students, faculty and employees of the Institute are entitled for the membership of the Library. Library membership form is available at the CET Website.

 Borrowing Rules 

  • Remember – Your ID is essentially required for all Checkouts. We cannot make exceptions for Checkouts.
  • The readers should check the books thoroughly for missing pages, chapters, etc., while getting them issued.
  •  No book in damaged condition will be accepted from the users on return. Damaged books will have to be replaced by the borrower.

Cost recovery of Lost Books by the Library members

 The lost book should be replaced by a new book with overdue charges.

 Overdue Fine

₹ 1.00 per day for the books issued from the General Section

Important Information on loss or damage of Text Books

  • Writing and highlighting in books is not allowed.
  • In case of loss, the cost of the book should be paid as per the Government norms (if foreign currency, it is to be charged at the current conversion rate of the currency.)
  • The lost book should be replaced by a new book of the same title with the latest edition and overdue charges for each book.

Reservation of the Documents

  • Please contact the Circulation Counter for the reservation of the books.

Book Bank Section

  •  The book bank facility has been mainly designed for scheduled Caste /Scheduled Tribe and financially backward students.
  • Students have to bring their physical form of ID cards for the Book Bank facility.
  • Up to 8 books can be reserved and issued per semester by the Undergraduate students, 10 Books for Graduate, for OBC/OEC Students 02 books.

E – Library

Our e-Library provides students with access to a wealth of digital resources including e-Journals, e-Books and Institutional repositories. With 16 high-speed internet connected computers, students can efficiently explore and utilise these resource to support their academic pursuits. National and International e-Journals are made available through ONOS platform. Users can access the e-Resources off campus using their individual ONOS User Login.

Reference Section

Libraries reference section is a treasure strove of knowledge, housing and impressive collections of around 28000 books with 150 seats available, students can comfortably study and research in a conducive environment. The section also offers high speed Wi-Fi.
