The
College of Engineering Trivandrum (CET) is proud to announce that
VeloCET, its student rocketry initiative, has successfully conducted
the Static Fire Test (SFT) of Nova-1, an indigenously developed solid
rocket motor powered by sorbitol–potassium nitrate (KNSB)
propellant.
The SFT was carried out under the expert
supervision of mentors from the Indian Space Research Organisation
(ISRO). The custom-built test stand and onboard electronics, adapted
from the flight computer designed for CET’s upcoming SD-1000
project—functioned with high reliability. The ignition system
demonstrated consistent performance, validating the design and
development efforts of the team.
With this successful test, CET has entered the elite league of institutions in the country with the demonstrated capability to design, develop, and static-fire solid rocket motors. This landmark achievement reflects the institution’s commitment to fostering innovation, promoting hands-on aerospace education, and contributing to India’s growing space ecosystem.

CET extends its sincere gratitude to ISRO mentors, the college administration, faculty advisors, and the dedicated student members of VeloCET whose tireless efforts have made this achievement possible. The team now looks ahead to its next milestone, the upcoming SD-1000 flight program.
VeloCET — CET’s Dream Come True.
