TRC is planning to conduct a brainstorming session on “Research to Practice” so as to identify research gaps in transport sectoron 18th Jan. 2020 at College of Engineering Trivandrum.
Transportation Engineering Research Centre (TRC) was set up to be associated with the Transportation Engineering Division of Department of Civil Engineering, College of Engineering Trivandrum, in 2012 with the novel idea of academia joining hands with practising engineers to offer better roads for Kerala. The prime objective of TRC is to transfer technical knowhow and research outputs for the benefit of road sector in the State.
TRC has so far taken up 50 research projects of which 39 projects are completed and 11 are in progress. Unfortunately, the major hurdle faced by TRC is in the implementation of its research findings in the field and hence the prime objective of TRC remains unfulfilled to certain extent. Due to this, the thrust areas where research is needed is being overlooked many a times. This point was highlighted in the recent meeting of the Consultative committee of TRC. To overcome this, the committee has recommended to conduct a one day brainstorming session involving all major stakeholders in transport sector in the State.
